Foxx Trotter's Cavern:  Scenic Picturesque
This section consists of  numerous scenic photos from various places with some occasional creative texture...from covered bridges and historic places to grand landscapes and country streams.  Great escapes.  Let's just say it's a "pot luck" of things.  More photos will be added over time.  I am currently requesting some photos for submittal.  Please see the Photo & Art Submittals section for more information regarding what I'm looking for.  Hmmm...I can eventually have fun with this!  Photos will be posted with the oldest first due to how the captions are made up.  RECENTLY POSTED PHOTOS can be found by clicking the capitalized link.  Pictures which is descripted as being listed on the National Register are scenic scapes which are on the United States National Register of Historic Places.  These are our country's valued landmarks.  Click on any photo to enlarge.

I have many photos from this locale.  This is a picture of the Canajoharie Gorge in Upstate New York.  Further downstream towards downtown, there is a large pothole within Canajoharie Creek.  I have a photo of this feature, but it's not one of my own.  Now that I found out how to get to it, I'll get a few photos when I go to New York in July.  The Canajoharie Pothole will be posted on here within the coming months...

I have many covered bridge photos as well.  This is a picture of the Waldo Covered Bridge near Talladega, Alabama.  As you can see, this bridge isn't maintained like many others throughout the country.  The bridge was built in 1858 and is a combination of Queenpost and Howe Truss construction.  It is 115 feet long and spans Talladega Creek.  The bridge is closed off to the public  but people can still walk up to where it stands.

This is a picture of Noccalula Falls in Gadsden, Alabama.  It is located in Noccalula Falls State Park, where there are also some historic colonial and Civil War sites along with a covered bridge near the entrance.  There is an admission charge to visit the park, but people can visit the falls for free.  The falls drop 90 feet into a ravine below.  For more information, visit the Noccalula Falls State Park website at www.noccalulafalls.org.

Here is another covered bridge photo.  This is a picture of the Jack's Creek Covered Bridge in Woolwine, Virginia north of Stuart.  The bridge was built in 1914 and is a Queenpost Truss construction.  It is 48 feet long and spans the Smith River.  I took this picture around Christmas time, which explains the decorations.  There wasn't much snow at this bridge...but the Bob White Covered Bridge, which I'll post later, had plenty.

There will be many more historic houses to come.  This one is the A.H. Vann House located in Franklinton, North Carolina near Raleigh.  It was built in 1917 and is a Spanish Mission style construction.  A.H. Vann was the son of Samuel C. Vann, founder of the historic Sterling Cotton Mill also located in Franklinton.  An interesting (and peculiar) feature of this residence are the two lamp posts on top of the roof.

I like this one here.  This is a photo taken from a lookout point at Letchworth State Park near Mount Morris, New York.  It is a view upstream along the Genesee River towards Middle and Upper Falls.  The river travels through a large gorge in the park heading to the Mount Morris Dam.  There are many different lookouts along the park road.  For more information, visit the Letchworth State Park website at www.letchworthpark.com.

Another covered bridge...this one being the Bob White Covered Bridge in Woolwine, Virginia located only a couple miles from the Jack's Creek Covered Bridge.  The bridge  was built in 1921 and is a Queenpost Truss construction.  It is 80 feet long and spans the Smith River.  In this photo, the snow is obviously more plentiful.  There is a third one in Woolwine, the newer Clifford-Wood Covered Bridge (1977), which is privately owned.
